What do your students know about emotional intelligence—the ability to recognize and manage emotions in ourselves and others? Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management are all essential for success. Moreover, being emotionally intelligent can help you to communicate your needs, respond to criticism, solve problems, be flexible, understand others’ needs, and respond to difficult people appropriately.
